Magnetic activity in solar cycle perspective.

In this plot we see the magnetic activity back to 1987, i.e. during the previous two solar cycles. The activity measure is the AZ - index as described at this page Red dots are the monthly means, green lines annual means. Solar maxima and minima (based on sunspot numbers) are marked. Note that maximum magnetic activity occurs a couple of years after sunspot maximum.
